Reception staff are very pleasant; both the dentist and nurse put you at ease as soon as you walk through the door. Explaining everything they do and working well together. The dentist is so gentle and very caring. Best dentist I have ever had!

The Dentist made me feel calm and safe.

The dentist was very good with advice as well as fixing my teeth, taking notice of what you say. The Hygienist was very informative and the lady on reception was lovely. Very good Dental Practice.

Professional Dental Whitening is not harmful for your teeth when the procedure is clinically indicated. The dentist will do an examination, ask you some questions and then decide whether whitening is clinically appropriate for you. For example, whitening is not normally recommended if you have sensitive teeth. This is because whitening gel can temporarily increase teeth sensitivity, especially in higher concentrations.

Conscious sedation is a treatment option offered to patients that suffer from dental anxiety, severe gag reflex or low pain tolerance. This form of sedation can improve the patient experience of dental care, as it has an amnesic effect- which means most patients don’t remember having the treatment at all! It can also act as a sense deprivator - meaning sensitive gag reflexes and intolerance to pain is improved.

Your Dentist recommends regular Check-ups to monitor the health of your teeth and gums. To maintain your Oral Hygiene between Dental visits, you can follow these quick tips:

  • Ensure you brush x2 daily following the Modified Bass Technique.
  • After your evening brush, ensure only water is consumed afterwards.
  • Floss or use interdental brushes x1 daily- this will help reduce the risk of gum disease and helps ensure all of your teeth surfaces have been cleaned.
  • Spit excess, don't rinse after brushing.
  • Change your toothbrush/ toothbrush head on electric toothbrushes at least every 3 months.

Here at Kirkby Dental Practice we understand the Dental chair isn't everyone's favourite place to be. We have lots of experience in treating patients that find Dental treatment daunting, which equips us with essential skills for keeping your nerves at ease. We understand it is often fear of the unknown that can frighten most patients, which is why our Clinicians talk each patient through what to expect if they are feeling nervous. Some patients find the sound of essential dental equipment to be the most frightening part, which is why some of our patients bring along headphones to use if they know the sounds may cause anxiety- maybe this tip can help you!
